So here it is, a blog that is about a movie that you haven't seen and that we love. A film that you simply must see when it comes out on July 4th. And that is The Visitor, which has been written and directed by Thomas McCarthy, who made the Station Agent a few years back.
The film tells the story of how the life of a dried up college professor is transformed by his friendship with a young Syrian asylum seeker and his Senegalese girlfriend. What sets this movie apart as something very special, is the gripping subtlety of the writing and the honesty of all the performances in it. And unlike most films that don't hit us on the head with exposition, the film does give us a great story and strong characters. Finally, what's most loveable about this film is that it wears its warmth, humanity and wisdom lightly.
The film had it's UK premiere at Edinburgh on Saturday, and the world is a-buzz with praise of it, so we're not alone!
See it when it comes out. It'll make you feel more alive and think about the world we live in. What more can a movie do?

I love the fact that it takes an actor to make a decent movie.
