The New York City Opera will be adding a new opera to its repertoire. The company has announced that their 2013 season will feature an Opera of Ang Lee's Oscar winning movie Brokeback Mountain, which starred Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhall. Apparently, the composer Wuorinen has been hired to write the score, while the libretto will remain close to the original novel.

All I can say is that it better be as good as the film! Nah, on reflection, comparing an opera to a movie is like comparing Champagne to Vodka. They do similar things, but in very different ways. Right?
